Blue Ridge Violet Hematite

Blue Ridge Violet Hematite
A cool, deep purple-brown. At its most opaque, it's just slightly metallic, thanks to its high concentration of hematite.

The pigments we use to make these colors are specific to Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountain range. Natural earth pigments have been mined from this region since the mid-1800's, and we think these colors are still unrivaled in intensity and richness. All three colors are natural iron-oxide pigments - clay deposits that over time have been saturated in limonite, which produces a yellow hue, and hematite, which produces a reddish hue. These three paints come together to create an Appalachian primary set, and we hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

Handmade in our shop using the highest quality earth pigment and natural watercolor binding medium made from gum arabic (sap from acacia trees,) honey, glycerine and distilled water.
