May 9 // Leatherworking with Kristen Morabito

95.00

Wednesday, May 9th, 6:00–8:30pm

While many us use leather goods in our lives, the backstory of leather sourcing and how to work with leather can feel mysterious. In this workshop, Kristen Morabito will start with a conversation around leather as a material: how it's made, its qualities, and possibilities, including a hand-tanned source of water buffalo leather that's used in Mohinders Shoes. Then we'll explore cutting, punching, riveting and stitching while making a yoga mat / beach towel carrier and a cup sleeve (out of water buffalo leather!) that turns a jar into a mug for coffee, tea, or a cold drink.

  • All materials provided
  • Age 16 and up recommended
  • If you've already taken leather working with Kristen, this will be a different set of skills—but, no experience required!

recommended age group: 16 and up
